BACK TO SET: Working Directors Intensive is a two-day immersive experience designed to help directors sharpen their craft, strengthen leadership skills, and build sustainable careers in today’s evolving entertainment landscape. Hosted by Alliance of Women Directors, the event brings together working filmmakers, executives, and creatives for hands-on workshops, candid conversations, and meaningful community.
In a moment where creative leadership and connection are more vital than ever, BACK TO SET invites directors from film, television, and new media—as well as executives, crew, and advocates—to come together for immersive workshops, panels, and community-building in the media capital of the world — Burbank, CA.
Our 2026 event will be held fully in-person, offering hands-on experiences, intimate access to top industry professionals, and space to sharpen your tools before heading back to set.
This year’s dynamic programming brings together everyone from executives at companies like STARZ and Amazon MGM Studios, to acclaimed AWD Icon directors, to leaders in virtual production, VFX, vertical storytelling, and emerging media. Sessions spotlight directing across genres and formats, from television to indie features, while tackling essential topics like pitching strategies, script breakdown, directing in verticals, and more!
